Bachelor Degree in Occupational Therapy

Experience

May started her career as a qualified veterinarian nurse/technician in Denmark. However, May decided to pursue her true passion of helping those in need. She graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Occupational Therapy June 2015, from the University College South in Denmark. As part of her practicum training, she worked with KIDZ Pediatric Occupational Therapy Consultants, where she was able to hone her skills in working with children.

Upon graduating, May has worked as a volunteer at various institutions and schools in Singapore. The focus has been on helping children and young adults in coping and overcoming challenges in their lives. In that capacity, she has experienced working with children and young adults diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Asperger's Syndrome, Dysfunction of Sensory Integration, Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and Developmental Delays (DD).

Being a parent with two young adults, May is able to relate to the challenges that her clients and their families experience and review these from many different perspectives. She believes that every child has a voice that must be heard and specific needs that must be attended to. Every child is different and requires a unique and customized approach in dealing with the challenges that they face.

May is an asset to our team as she is familiar with our philosophy, mission and guiding principles. She practices empowering clients and their families towards improving their lives. Her approach is sensitive towards cultural differences that they may advocate.

May is proficient in utilising treatment techniques and has received training in the following modalities:

  • Basic DIRFloortime® competencies
  • Orientation to daily Occupational Performance (CO-OP)
  • Sensory Integration Approach
  • Social Thinking
